Steel Ventures educates youth and adults on the importance of our Planet's sensitive environment and practical ways to conserve its elicate balance. Through education programs, training labs and research projects, members learn valuable self-discipline skills that are necessary to reach their goals of success. Outdoor recreational activities like scuba diving, hiking, camping, eco preservation, biking, and sailing are the backbone to promoting our goals in Steel Ventures.

The goal of Steel Ventures is to produce self-disciplined, civic minded, responsible youth and adults with knowledge, tools and experiences that will help them be successful and productive citizens in our community.


Partnerships

Verb
Physical fitness program sponsored by the CDC to keep youth ages 9-13 active. Steel Ventures is a Verb Partner.

Scuba Schools International
Scuba Schools International is one of the world's largest scuba diving training organizations and provides structure for all scuba training.

Platinum Pro Foundation
A world wide non-profit organization designed to increase awareness of the marine environment.

BSA Sea Scouts
A co-ed program for youth ages 14-20 that provides structure for youth programs.

Goals

Steel Ventures has the ultimate goal of building a facility that can house an education and training center that can help youth and adults discover their potentials and achieve success.

Steel Ventures will develop an artificial reef in the Gulf of Mexico that can be used as a marine habitat and a research station/lab for divers to explore the potentials of our oceans.

Steel Ventures is continuing to build and develop programs that will meet the needs of the youth of our society. Through these programs, youth will increase their understanding and involvement in the exploration of our seas as well as providing a healthy outlet for their energies.

Steel Ventures has developed programs for individuals with disabilities to learn how to achieve freedom for chairs, canes and other prosthetic devises through scuba diving activities.

Support Needed

The budget needs for Steel Ventures is between one to two million dollars per year. These funds are used to provide structure for activities, projects and programs designed to assist youth in discovering the importance of our oceans, conducting research on an artificial reef, developing programs for divers with disabilities, producing educational CD's, and the production of youth lead video programs that can be aired on cable access television.

Donations are needed in the amounts of $10,000, $100,000 and $1,000,000. In return for their support donors will receive PSA announcements with their logo as a sponsor, banners for all major sponsors, name and logo on the building, brick with name on it, wall of Fame, video's and TV shows with sponsors name, site names on our artificial reef, t-shirts, and website.

Snorkel Rangers
Adventure program for youth ages 5-8. Teaches aquatic safety, snorkeling,

Scuba Rangers
Scuba Program for youth ages 8-13. Teaches Scuba in a confined water setting with a primary focus on Safety.

Steel Divers
Co-ed scouting program designed to help youth ages 13-20 develop skills necessary to be productive citizens and Heroes of the Sea.

Master Divers
Scuba training program developed to provide divers with a training and excursion program help divers make a difference in our Blue Planet.

Dive Pirates
Support program for our Adaptive Aquatics Program, which provide freedomfor disabled divers.

The Navigators
Counseling program for at-risk youth that incorporates social skills development and outdoor programs.

Fund Raising Programs

Pirate Ball
An annual ball has been developed to help raise funds to support adaptive aquatics by helping disable divers with training, equipment and travel.

Duck Race
A rubber duck race will be held at the San Marcos River to raise funds to support the scientific diving program and both the conservation and archeological programs.

Get Flamingo-ed
Youth will have individuals obtain up to 100 flamingos to be placed in a friends yard for a celebration like a birthday. Flamingos and a banner will be placed in the yard from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. at $2 per flamingo.

Car Wash
Youth programs will raise funds for training, equipment and projects through a car wash that obtains sponsorships on a per car basis.
